RED Cliffs caused the upset of the round in Sunraysia Saturday Pennant bowls when they defeated Mildura at Tiger Park.
Maurie Press and his team of Geoff Peters, Mark Ford and Rosanne Muir took out Mildura’s Mark Eckel 32-17.
Magic’s Ian Pollock and Keith Sharman both recorded good wins but could not cover the 15-shot deficit, Red Cliffs winning 73(8) to 69(4).
Ouyen kept their season alive with a strong win over Workers.
Mick Donaghy, Norm Latta, Judy Pengelly and Ken ‘Bushy’ Graham did the damage for the Two Blues with a solid 33-12 win over Nev Mitchell.
Ouyen jumped into the four with their a very impressive victory, 92(10) to 58(2).
Merbein had their colours lowered by Irymple, the home side scoring a 43-shot all-rinks win to reclaim top spot on the ladder.
Graham Lynch continued to pilot his rink of Darren Cass, David Gray and Trevor Flack, winning 42-15 over David Maud.
Lynch is the only undefeated skip in Division 1 after six rounds, and Irymple collected the points 93(12) to 50(0).
Division 2 matches produced some spectacular results, Mildura leading the way with a 60-shot all-rinks win over Nangiloc.
Ken Yeowart, Judy Osborne, Russ Kneebone and John Simpson recorded an impressive 40-12 win over Ben Mansell for Mildura. The final result was 104(12) to 44(0).
Coomealla have continued their dominance in the competition by recording an all-points win over Workers.
Ian Gibson skipped his rink of Harold Bradley, Rob O’Brien and Peter Lambert to a 30-17 win over Di Smith. The Cannons collected a 76(12) to 49(0) win.
Against Ouyen, Irymple’s Ian Kellett, Ian McLean, Greg Brown and George Millward set up a Suns’ win by defeating Don Pohlner’s rink 40-10. Irymple won comfortably 85(10) to 58(2).
In Division 3, Merbein were the big improvers, recording a thumping 72-shot shellacking over Workers.
Owen Rentch, Barry Fullerton, Brian Davey and Henk Wallenborn collected the chocolates for the best rink performance across all divisions in a 42-5 win over Dave Robertson’s rink. The Hawks won 107(12) to 35(0).
Wentworth carried the day defeating Irymple 69(9) to 60(3). Ivan Behsmann’s rink of Rodger Smith, Trevor Page and Doug Parker were the heavy lifters for the Steamers, winning 29-19 over Lorraine Millward.
Mildura collected the points over Red Cliffs at Tiger Park with a close-fought 63(10) to 57(2) victory. Underbool recorded a ripping 70(10) to 69(2) win over the Euston Bandits.
In Division 4, Mildura 4 58(8) defeated Irymple 43(0), Mildura 5 66(8) defeated Euston 2 27(0), Euston 48(8) were too good for Underbool 40(0), and Coomealla won on a forfeit from Red Cliffs 3.
